(p)review forecast June part 2

1. India Black by Carol K. Carr, Titan
When Sir Archibald Latham of the War Office dies from a heart attack while visiting her brothel, Madam India Black is unexpectedly thrust into a deadly game between Russian and British agents who are seeking the military secrets Latham carried. Blackmailed into recovering the missing documents, India finds herself dodging Russian agents, seducing spies and embarking on midnight sleigh rides.
2. Peacekeeper by Marianne de Pierres, Angry Robot

When an imaginary animal from her troubled teenage years reappears, Virgin takes it to mean one of two things: a breakdown (hers!) or a warning. Dead bodies start piling up around her, so she decides on the latter. Something terrible is about to happen in the park and Virgin and her new partner, U.S. Marshall Nate Sixkiller, are standing in its path...
3. The Unreal and the Real by Ursula K. Le Guin, Gollancz

This two-volume selection of almost 40 stories selected from her glittering career was made by Ursula Le Guin herself. She has chosen to organise them thematically, splitting the stories into the nominally realistic and fantastic.
WHERE ON EARTH focuses on Ursula Le Guin's interest in realism and magic realism and includes 18 of her satirical, political and experimental earthbound stories. Highlights include WORLD FANTASY and HUGO AWARD-winner 'Buffalo Gals, Won't You Come Out Tonight', the rarely reprinted satirical short, 'The Lost Children', JUPITER AWARD-winner, 'The Diary of the Rose' and the title story of her PULITZER PRIZE finalist collection 'Unlocking the Air'.

Only five still guard the borders between the worlds.
Only five hold back what waits on the other side.
Once the Oversight, the secret society that policed the lines between the mundane and the magic, counted hundreds of brave souls among its members. Now their numbers can be counted on a single hand.
When a vagabond brings a screaming girl to the Oversight's London headquarters, it seems their hopes for a new recruit will be fulfilled - but the girl is a trap.
As the borders between this world and the next begin to break down, murders erupt across the city, the Oversight are torn viciously apart, and their enemies close in for the final blow.
5. Deadly Curiosities by Gail Z. Martin, Solaris
