Media Alert: Steven Erikson's Willful Child
Steven Erikson is the bestselling author of the Malazan Empire of the Fallen books a 10 volume epic fantasy, sword and sorcery adventure series. Currently he is working on a prequel series to the Malazan Empire of the Fallen, The Kharkanas Trilogy. Steven Erikson also writes a novella based series featuring the eccentric duo Bauchelain and Korbal Broach. But now for something completely different. SPACE OPERA SCIENCE FICTION. The project of Willful Child was released somewhere last year I think but only by title and which genre it would be. I for one was pleasantly suprised to hear that Steven Erikson was working on a Space Opera title. Now as the publication date it drawing to a near, Willful Child published by Bantam Press on the 6th of November and by Tor on the 4th of November, its time for a shoot out.
Here is the most of the information so far:
This is promising to be one madcap ride through space! What do you think?

And so we join the not-terribly-bright but exceedingly cock-sure Captain Hadrian Sawback - a kind of James T Kirk crossed with 'American Dad' - and his motley crew on board the Starship Willful Child for a series of devil-may-care, near-calamitous and downright chaotic adventures through 'the infinite vastness of interstellar space'...
The bestselling author of the acclaimed Malazan Book of the Fallen sequence has taken his life-long passion for 'Star Trek' and transformed it into a smart, inventive and hugely entertaining spoof on the whole mankind-exploring-space-for-the-good-of-all-species-but-trashing-stuff-with-a-lot-of-hi-tech-kit-along-the-way type over-blown adventure. The result is this smart. inventive, occasionally wildly OTT and often very funny novel that deftly parodies the genre while also paying fond homage to it.
