Book Review: The Incorruptibles

The Incorruptibles by John Hornor Jacobs, The Incorruptibles #1 In the contested and unexplored territories at the edge of the Empire, a boat is making its laborious way upstream. Riding along the banks are the mercenaries hired to protect it – from raiders, bandits and, most of all, the stretchers, elf-like natives who kill any intruders into their territory. The mercenaries know this is dangerous, deadly work. But it is what they do. In the boat the drunk governor of the territories and his sons and daughters make merry. They believe that their status makes them untouchable. They are wrong. And with them is a mysterious, beautiful young woman, who is the key to peace between warring nations and survival for the Empire. When a callow mercenary saves the life of the Governor on an ill-fated hunting party, the two groups are thrown together. For Fisk and Shoe – two tough, honourable mercenaries surrounded by corruption, who know they can always and only rely on each oth...

Age of Blood

Seal Team 666: Age of Blood by Weston Ochse, Seal Team 666 #2     When a Senator’s daughter is kidnapped by a mysterious group with ties to the supernatural . . . it’s clearly a job for SEAL TEAM 666.  As Triple Six gets involved, they discover links to the Zeta Cartel, a newly discovered temple beneath Mexico City, and a group known as Followers of the Flayed One. International politics, cross-border narco-terrorism, and an insidious force operating inside the team soon threaten to derail the mission.  Forced to partner with several militant ex-patriots and a former Zeta hitman-turned-skinwalker, Triple Six is the world's only hope to stop the return of the Age of Blood. Earlier this year Titan Books released the first book in the Seal Team 666 series by Weston Ochse. When I read that book it was just a non-stop action pack ride till the finish. We all know that the US navy SEAL's are one of the toughest special forces out there, so that's alone co...

Prince of Thorns

Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence, The Broken Empire #1 From being a privileged royal child, raised by a loving mother, Jorg Ancrath has become the Prince of Thorns, a charming, immoral boy leading a grim band of outlaws in a series of raids and atrocities. The world is in chaos: violence is rife, nightmares everywhere. Jorg has the ability to master the living and the dead, but there is still one thing that puts a chill in him. Returning to his father’s castle Jorg must confront horrors from his childhood and carve himself a future with all hands turned against him.  Prince of Thorns is Mark Lawrence’s debut book and the first in The Broken Empire series. This book has been high on my to read list ever since it was first released but just hadn’t come around to read it. Prince of Thorns has received several outstanding reviews as was very eager to get to it. If you haven’t read this book yet (yes I was once shame on me), give into you inner epic fantasy demon, it kno...

Three

Three by Jay Posey, Legend of the Dustwalker #1                    The world has collapsed, and there are no heroes any more. But when a lone gunman reluctantly accepts the mantel of protector to a young boy and his dying mother against the forces that pursue them, a hero may yet arise. I don’t know how this book totally escaped my attention. Luckily Angry Robots have their notification emails that mentioned Jay Posey’s Three. Jay Posey has been working in the game industry since 1998 and has been writing for over a decade, currently Jay Posey works as a Senior Narrative Designer for Red Storm Entertainment. His portfolio consists of designing for Tom Clancy’s award winning Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. As you can see the synopsis of this book is pretty short but judging by the cover of the book, which is just stunning to say the least and the words like lone gunman and ...
